Hey Hey my little Beauty Munchkins!
So today I thought I’d bring you along on a tour through Vienna - although this is going to be a little bit different than you might think ;)
I work at a famous Viennese Café and we always cooperate with museums and tour guides around town. And today one of these tour guides invited me and my colleges on a tour called
Passion and Lust in Vienna.
It is a 2 ½ hour long walking tour through Vienna and it is based on the historical part of prostitution and how people dealt with sexuality in public back in the days.
Not only did we hear a lot of information and true facts, but also some gossip and rumors, which made it even more exciting. So now I’m gonna show you some impressions of today – I hope I can remember all the kinky little details.
In one of these beautiful baroque houses on this little street, there lived the famous Casanova every time he came to Vienna. Unfortunately we don’t now in which house exactly. He kind of “invented” the condoms around here, so that people could hide their affairs better and he definitely lived up to his own name.
The tour guide told us, Casanova came to Vienna three times: The first time – nobody knew him. The second time – all the men knew him. The third time – everybody knew him.
Now we are in front of “Nina’s Club Bar”. It is a simple brothel.
The funny little detail about this specific place is that the owner “Nina” can’t be moved out of the house. The house has a demolition order, which means that for almost ten years now, this house was supposed to be torn down, because it is too old and too dangerous to live in. Everybody moved out – except for Nina. And no one can get her out of this house, because there is this little rumor that some of our politicians and famous people like to go there, so she is protected by them.
I think she will stay in this place for a little while longer ;)
This is a house for suffering and regretting what you’ve done.
All the young girls, accused of prostitution or being pregnant with an illegitimate child, came here to “learn” what a good woman and wife should do. So they learned how to cook, clean, wash and all that jazz. After they have finished their “education” they were proper marriage material.
So as you can see on the picture there is a dent under the door – it was formed by all the men walking in alone and out with a new wife.
Almost at the end of our tour, we came past this little “club”.
The official description says it is a sauna for men. Well let me put it like that: I’ve seen pictures and gay men clearly have more fun in there than just sweating ;)
I’m gonna end today’s post with a little love story I’m sure a lot of you heard of before – the story of the Basilisk.
Behind this house is a fountain. In it there used to live a creature – half rooster half snake. It was so horrible, that everybody who just looked at it died immediately.
In the house lived a man with his daughter. One day a baker son came and told the old man that he wanted to marry his beautiful daughter. The father said he would agree, if the boy killed the monster in his backyard. The boy took a brass plate, polished it and climbed down the fountain with it. When he saw the Basilisk he held up the plate so that the monster could see his own reflection and it died right away.
After that the boy could marry the girl and they lived happily ever after – well at least that’s what I think :)
I really, really enjoyed this tour. If you are ever in Vienna – do it :)
